1. Gallrein Farms

Looking to support local farming? Or need somewhere to host a large event? Gallrein Farms is perfect you! This farm is from generations of farmers and was founded in 1929 by Edward Gallrein Sr where his son William Gallrein Sr. purchased the farm in 1971. His son Bill Jr. helped with the dairy business until in the mid 70's when they decided to expand their farming into vegetables, grain, and tobacco. Years later in 1990, Bill Jr. and his wife Randie opened their farm market to share their farm fresh veggies for people to purchase! Today both Bill Sr. and son Bill Jr. still own and operate the farm, which hosts a number of activities including school field trips, petting zoo, bakery and cafe, festivals, and the Pavilion which can be rented for your special occasion!

2. Jeptha Creed Distillery

Located off Gordon Lane in Shelbyville, Kentucky is Jeptha Creed Distillery, where you can plan a barrel tasting or spirit tasting! They also have The Creed Cafe where you can grab a bite to eat, no reservation required. This distillery is located on around 1,000 acres of land in Shelby County that is owned by The Nethery family. The 64-acres that make up the distillery property are covered in crops that are ingredients that will go straight into the Jeptha Creed products such as bourbon, vodka, whiskey, and moonshine. This distillery is truly one of a kind and boasts a continuation of a family heritage that's been strong since the 1700's!

3. Kentucky Paddleboarding

Looking for adventure? In the warmer months, you can head on over to Kentucky Paddleboarding, where you can receive demos on how to paddleboard! Visit their Facebook page to stay up to date on all their trips, meet new friends, and paddleboard on local and regional waterways and explore!

4. Talon Winery Tasting Room

Originally established in 1999, The Talon Winery Tasting Room expanded into Shelbyville in 2009. The winery overlooks a limestone rock quarry on Gordon Lane where you can taste wine, host private events, and shop for various items in their gift shop! You can also enjoy free live music every Saturday and even bring your own picnic to enjoy!

5. Mulberry Orchard

If you're looking to support local farming and take the family on a fun day trip, you found it! The Gajdziks have planted over 3,000 apple and peach trees at Mulberry Orchard with a desire to sell quality, local produce to the surrounding community. You're sure to find a favorite because there are currently 17 varieties of peaches and 16 varieties of apples! While shopping for your produce for the week, Mulberry Orchard also hosts seasonal events including a hayride, animals, kids area, market, corn maze, and festivals!

6. Wakefield-Scearce Galleries 

Looking for that perfect antique to compliment your decor? Or searching for that perfect gift? Look no further! Established in 1947, Wakefield-Scearce Galleries is home to an extensive collection of fine English antiques including silver, furniture, art, and accessories. It currently houses one of the largest collections of antique English furniture, antique silver, and antique home decor in the United States and includes a dining room where you can find good food and great people!

7. Bulleit Distilling Co.

If you're a bourbon fanatic, chances are you've heard of Bulleit Distilling Co.! Their distillery offers a wide range of activities for any bourbon lover (or those looking to learn). They offer interactive tours and tastings, cocktail classes, and different food options that you can pair with various drinks. They also have an outdoor patio and a retail store where you can browse all that they have to offer!

8. Shelby County Community Theatre

Looking to get involved with local art and theatre? This theatre is perfect for you! The Shelby County Comunity Theatre was founded in 1977 and is recognized as an award-winning community theatre, having received the Kentucky Theater Association’s top award for The Dining Room, directed by Harolyn Sharpe; top awards in both state and regional competition for And the Tide Shall Cover the Earth, directed by Daniel Herring in 1993; top awards for Quilters in 1994, and The Dining Room, an encore production in 1999, both directed by Herring; and the top state award for Nunsense, directed by Marilyn Anderson in 2002. You can enjoy shows, audition, take classes, or even contribute as a supporter through volunteering and donating!

9. Lettleiki Icelandics

You're not in Kentucky if you don't have a nearby equestrian facility! Lettleiki Icelandics is a nationally recognized center that offers a range of professional services including boarding, training, teaching, sales, breeding, and promotion. Their goal is to train riders and horses so they can work together in harmony. If you're looking for anything horse-related, whether it's to learn to ride, breed, or just watch a show, they've got you covered!

10. Claudia Sanders Dinner House

If you want to learn a bit of history, enjoy quality southern-style home cooking, or you're looking to host a private event, the Claudia Sanders Dinner House is it! Colonel Harland Sanders and his wife, Claudia, moved to Shelbyville in 1959, and from this very building is where Kentucky Fried Chicken grew into a worldwide organization! Although the company offices moved in 1964, the Dinner House still remains, where an air of Southern Hospitality and cooking combined with old-fashioned, family-style service, is there to welcome you. This facility also includes additional space for private events and conferences!
